Before a treatment is proposed, the working diagnosis, what the evidence supports and how confident anyone can reasonably be are laid out. It also means saying when something is not yet proven.
Conservative prescribing
Weight loss medicines, testosterone and hormone therapy are useful for the right patient and are commonly started without adequate baseline testing. Diagnosis comes before treatment.
Thorough documentation
Every consultation produces a written record of findings, reasoning and plan. Results are interpreted in writing, not handed over as a page of numbers.
No upselling
Investigations are ordered because a result would change a decision. Medicines are billed at pharmacy cost and tests at laboratory cost.
Not a claim that other systems are worse
Dubai has excellent physicians trained across many systems. This is a description of how one practice works, so that you can judge whether it matches what you are looking for.
You should also expect to be told when the answer is no treatment. Sometimes the correct medical advice is to change one habit, wait six weeks and measure again.
